11 Weeks!
The ultrasound was taken about a wk & a half ago,...
(copied from a pregnancy website)Your wee baby is now comparable in size to a plum!
Go ahead... we'll wait while you run to the kitchen and hold one in your hand to marvel at the life form unfolding inside of you.
Your baby's favorite game right now is exploring their face and especially their mouth.
Not only does this game improve your child's newly acquired voluntary muscle coordination of their limbs, but it also starts hard-wiring their hand nerves for newly gained sensations as they're now able to experience in their hands, because their palms can now "feel"!
Extensive facial exploration also primes their facial nerves by setting the stage for a lifetime of subtle sensations from kissing to spitting!
Final interesting fetal developments for the week: their newly acquired swallow reflex, and the beginnings of a sense of smell, which when combined with their maturing taste buds, will provide your baby with their first experiences of taste and smell in the womb.
Yeah, we're also curious what wombs smell like. We'd like to think warm and homey, which just might be the smell of freshly baked cookies.
Bethany LOVES to talk about the baby all the time & is FULL of questions. Sometimes I have to be quite inventive coming up with an age-appropriate answer!
Lily doesn"t quite understand & seems to think everyone has an imaginary baby. She keeps hers in her diaper (it's the only "pocket" she has most of the time,...) & she takes it out & plays/talks to it. She has an unlimited imagination & is quite entertaining. However, that is a story for another time,....

8 weeks!

How your baby's growing:
New this week: Webbed fingers and toes are poking out from your baby's hands and feet, his eyelids practically cover his eyes, breathing tubes extend from his throat to the branches of his developing lungs, and his "tail" is just about gone. In his brain, nerve cells are branching out to connect with one another, forming primitive neural pathways. You may be daydreaming about your baby as one sex or the other, but the external genitals still haven't developed enough to reveal whether you're having a boy or a girl. Either way, your baby — about the size of a kidney bean — is constantly moving and shifting, though you still can't feel it.
So excited to see/hear the baby soon on it's first ultrasound!

I'm sooo ready to go to bed,....
I'm listening to slacker radio (the classic country station of course) in the living room &, being the little music lover that she is, Lily comes into the LR about every 5min & starts dancing. Finally I said, "I'm going to turn it off!!" to which she responded, "NO! No turn it off".
This last time (hoping it's the last for the night!) that I put her back to bed I pointed the "spankin stick" at her from her doorway & said "if you get up again you're getting a BIG spankin' ok?,.....say yes mommy" well that little bugger took her plug out of her mouth and stuck her tongue out!

I LOVE her! SO full of life & personality, but gosh Lily can't you PLEASE go to sleep!?

:D
I'm going to be a Mommy again!!! I know I'm going to treasure every min of being pregnant! So looking forward to watching my body change & feeling the baby move inside of me. So glad that our kids are old enough that they can share in the excitement & learn about how a baby grows! Bethany & I have already been looking at pics of what a baby looks like inside a tummy :)
(in case you're wondering it looked like this about a week ago)

• At 5 weeks pregnant, the first heartbeats begin - If you have an early ultrasound you may not be able to recognize this tiny being as a baby, but there is no mistaking what it feels like seeing your child's heartbeat on that screen. That rhythmic beat is echoed in your own heart.
• Umbilical cord develops - This is your baby's lifeline in utero. It bears the responsibility of pumping in oxygen, removing waste, and supplying the necessary nutrients for the remainder of your pregnancy.
• In week 5 of your pregnancy, blood is now pumping - All four heart chambers are now functioning, insuring your baby's body will receive all it needs over not only the remainder of your pregnancy but throughout life.
• Most other organs begin to develop - Your infant's lungs start to appear, along with her brain. Already your little one is preparing for a quest for lifelong learning!
• Arm and leg buds appear at week 5 of pregnancy - While they may not appear to be much at this stage it is ok to dream of the future. Just imagine your ballerina twirling and jumping around your kitchen floor. Or perhaps you will have the precocious boy that throws the perfect pitch -- right through the neighbor's window.
My first Dr apt won't be for a few more wks. I'm excited to hear the heart beat & see the baby on it's 1st ultrasound! I've calculated my due date to be Nov 11th but we'll see what the Dr says,....
Garrett & Lily were born in Nov too (the 21st & 10th) so Nov will be full of B-day parties at our house :)
I LOVE being a Mommy! Oh & have I mentioned how excited I am? :P

Hi! My name is Bethany. I am 4. I like ringpops, cheesing for the camera, & playing with my kitty Tink & my sister Lily.
I like to go to Nanny's house. My bike is there & I get to play outside on the swing-set & play fetch with the dogs. sometimes Daddy & Mommy take me fishing in Papa's pond!

I LOVE helping Mommy cook! I get to stir everything. I even got to make dinner (mostly) by myself once!

I love to get my picture taken. All the time! I play pretend with my Barbies all the time & I like to play dress-up too.

I am a very good big sister & I want my Mommy to have another baby, a boy baby, so sister can have a baby brother. I don't want a baby brother because I have a big brother already.

I love to play with the cats & pet them. Feeding them is MY job!

Daddy is my favorite person in the world!!!

Sometimes I am very goofy & I like to giggle ALOT!!!

I love to draw & hang the pics all over Mommy's fridge. I also love to dance, sing & cook. Sometimes all at the same time even!

The many faces of Lily

I love my Lily, It's impossible to be bored when she'd around. It's also rather difficult not to get exasperated,....

Last week I heard the toilet flush, walked in the bathroom to investigate & found Lily standing by the toilet. She looked @ me and said, "It went Bye Bye!" I have not a clue what "it" was but so far we haven't had to call a plumber or anything so I guess "it" was pretty small.

Earlier that same day I woke up to find approximately 130 cotton balls scattered ALL over the house. At least we can still use them to make clouds,....
Saturday I gave her a bran-spankin-new container of green play-dough. 5 min later we had to pick all 6 THOUSAND pieces off the floor & throw them away. Thank goodness none of it got in the carpet!

Lily does lots of things that make me laugh & roll my eyes simultaneously, she dances, swings off the belts in the closet like she's Tarzan, "fetches" balls like a puppy, kidnaps Bethany's Barbies & holds them hostage (she's running around right now holding one over her head with Bethany in hot pursuit), colors on the walls, & she climbs on top of the bunk-bed (& then cries to get down) even though the ladder is hiding in the closet!

Oh, and she jumps. Off of EVERYTHING! ALL THE TIME! She LOVES to cook, putts pretties on the cat & alternately terrorizes and cuddles it.

AND she likes to eat dirt!
